Say NO!!! to the grindset
The grindset mindset is good for when youre an ultra bum and are too stupid and arrogant to care about the crappy life you have. But extreme grindset promotes an anti-human existence.
Theres a certain brand of people that promote the grindset mindset that all that matters is stacking paper and everything else is a waste of time. Im looking at the "alpha-male" crowd, but it can also be more innocent than that.
People can be so focused on getting a good career that they push aside the finer things in life for later. Now, if all you do is play videogames or party or jack off all day then this isnt what I mean. A hedonist lifestyle should be squashed and people should realize that they have to work a little bit to get a good life. But other people will shun friends, hobbies, relationships, creativity, ect as they are trying to become rich.
People will see studying and working 20 hrs a day for YEARS to, for example, be a doctor when they dont have the talent, interest, or real drive to. Just because they want the money or status. And they see this as a desirable lifestyle.
I dont see how having no friends, close relationships, hobbies, read books, developed thoughts, or fun experiences at 35 is desirable. People seem to be totally satisfied with having attained a high status career as the only noteworthy thing in their life. Im sure you know the types, where unless you talk about their career or the most brain-numbing mainstream thing there is nothing in their head. All beliefs are whatever and ankle deep, they have like 3 people in their life, they literally cant do anything interesting except their job. "But I became a doctor/engineer/lawyer!"
It feels like the consensus is "Dont worry about friends and dancing and singing and hobbies and art and whatever. Those things are just distractions, just grind until you become rich." This translates to "dont worry about living a human experience, you can be fulfilled as a cog I promise." Because relationships, the arts, creativity, curiosity, a unique and deep and peculiar experience are all what it means to be human.
Yes theres balance, you cant become a doctor or whatever without a few no-life seasons. But if it means forgoing EVERYTHING, whats the point? I guess if people have a different definition of being human that changes things but I dont understand it.
